Why is it rare for ductile iron pipes to leak water?

Details

This starts with the structure and production process of ductile iron pipes.

Firstly, ductile iron pipes are made of metal casting, with thicker pipe walls than plastic pipes. At the same time, the metal material is not easily damaged by external forces. For example, during the secondary construction process, if the hook machine accidentally hooks onto the ductile iron pipe, if the situation is not very serious, the ductile iron pipe fittings will not be damaged, causing water leakage.

Secondly, each ductile iron pipe is subjected to a hydrostatic test during the production process. If the ductile iron pipe is not lined with cement, the "sand hole" manufacturer with casting will eliminate it during the production process.

Finally, the design of ductile iron pipe gaskets can increase the possibility of water leakage at the joints of pipe fittings. The rubber ring is of an "inverted V" shape, and the larger the water pressure, the greater the tension of the "inverted V" interface of the rubber ring. In other words, the greater the water pressure, the tighter the connection between the rubber ring and the pipe fittings.
